Our Elf, Elvis, left a Gingerbread house kit again this year and the kids had fun decorating them (and eating the candy!)

Growing up, my sister and I always made the same sugar cookies with my mom for Santa. This year we decided to make them with our kids too. (Because as much as I love cut-out, frosted sugar cookies, they are a TON of work...especially with kids helping...) I can't wait to continue the tradition with my kids! They loved smashing the dough with sprinkles as much as I did! While admiring this year's Christmas picture of the kids, I took a little trip down Christmas memory lane! Here are all the pictures of our kids throughout the years all dressed up in front of the tree <3 They have all grown and changed so much! We are the luckiest parents in the world! The beginning of December we took the kids to see Santa. Ever since we have lived in Dubuque we have gone to the Roshek Building, which is an old department store building that they now use for offices, a few restaurants, etc. At Christmas time they decorate it beautifully and Santa comes every Saturday for a few hours and you can take pictures for free and it is typically not busy at all. Plus Santa always gives them a little gift, which the kids love! This year was the longest wait we have ever had and it was totally worth it. Santa really talked to the kids, took time to make Cooper laugh so he wasn't scared and really listened to the kids about their lists, even though there was a long line of families behind us. Even though we didn't get the best picture of the kids with Santa (apparently he needs a bigger chair!) it was a great experience! And I got my annual picture of my kids all dressed up in front of the tree <3 Kaylin made this amazing cat artwork at school as her fall project. Their Art teacher is absolutely amazing! There are many different aspects to the piece- they did stamping/printing on paper, then cut it into strips, then wove the strips to create the background. Then they created the cat face in several different steps. (They only have Art class every 3 days so it took them a long time to complete!)
She was very proud of her work and we absolutely love it! Well, it's my monthly attempt to catch up on the family blog that I am epically failing at! For Thanksgiving, Lucas's Preschool has a "Pie Day" where they put on a little performance of songs, give us some crafts and we get to eat pie together. It was so sweet and adorable! Cory was able to take a little time off work to come too, which was a surprise to Lucas! He was being so shy at first and hardly doing the songs (even though he claims he was). I love making all these memories with my kids! |
