Cooper is officially 2/3 of a year old....this year is going WAY too fast!! He is the same ol' happy baby and is so much fun! Here's what he is up to: -Has 4 teeth -Can army crawl, but prefers to use rolling as his mode of transportation (he is ALL over the place!) -Not a huge fan of purees, especially vegetables (but getting better....he doesn't constantly spit is all at me anymore, so that's progress :-) ) -Starting some table foods- little chunks of bananas, puffs, little bites of noodles, vegetables, etc. Not everything stays in, but we are getting there! -Makes a super adorable cheesy face (I will have to work on getting a picture of it) -Super dramatic pouty face when I walk away with his bottle :-) (it cracks me up) -Starting to pull up onto his knees (see pics) -Loves to do "planks" haha...it looks like he is trying to just stand up, I swear he will just stand up and walk before he actually crawls -Loves his brother and sister :-) -Down to only 4 bottles a day -Loves bath time and splashing the water That's about it, I guess! This past week, Lucas started 3 year preschool! We decided to sign him up for a little program through the city's Leisure Services, as it was a LOT more affordable than any of the other preschools in town (4 months of preschool through the city was equal in cost to about 1 month through some of the other preschools). I wasn't really sure what to expect of the program, but I have been pleasantly surprised! The little building they use is all set up with a traditional preschool and the teachers are fantastic! I'm really excited for him to continue to go there! He has been very excited for Preschool and was fine up until it was actually time to go in and he started to get a little nervous. I was expecting this, as he has always been a very shy Momma's boy. He asked if I would come in with him, which of course I would! We met the teachers and found a spot to sit at to play play dough. He was hesitant and watched every move I made, so I didn't bolt for the door ;-) After a few minutes I told him it was time for me to go and I gave him a hug as he wiped away tears, but remained so brave and stayed in his chair and played play dough. I have never been so proud of him! This was exactly what I needed to be able to walk out that door without breaking down! When I picked him up, he ran across the room and jumped into my arms. He was so excited to tell me every little detail of his day. My favorite quote of the day was "Mom, bad news is, we didn't get to play on the playground. Good news, there is a little kitchen!" (the playground is referring to the park the building is located next to). The 2nd day he teared up a bit too, but was fine when I left. The teacher said he was much more talkative too, which makes my heart so happy because I wasn't sure how he would be without me there. She said that she would have never guessed that he was shy! Lucas loves to take a bath with Cooper. It is always filled with giggles :-) Last weekend the kids and I went to MN with my mom, sister and niece for a bridal shower for one of my cousins. This was the 1st time my Grandma Sue had all 10 of her Great Grandchildren in one room! It was a lot of fun seeing everyone but definitely a challenge to get all 10 kids in a picture without tears! I'd say it was semi-successful ;-)
Lucas was disappointed that he didn't know how to draw people, so the other day I showed him how :-) He was so proud of himself! And I was proud of him too :-) I'm having a really hard time with the thought of him going to preschool soon. I think it's because I never experienced the whole dropping him off at daycare when he was a baby, so this is the 1st time I will be leaving him with a complete stranger! I know he will be fine and it will be more than good for both of us, but it's just another reminder of my babies growing up!
This week we entered a new, huge milestone for Kaylin! She began Kindergarten! (Enter sobbing Mom here). On Monday morning Cory and I took her to her new school to meet her teacher and see her classroom. Her teacher, Mrs. Weber, filled us in about some things to expect in Kindergarten, went over their schedule, asked Kaylin some questions (like what she liked to do, what she wanted to learn about, etc.) and answered any questions we had. She is very nice and I think it's going to be a great year! I am hoping to get to spend some time in her classroom/school volunteering and going on field trips, etc. I want to be an involved as possible in the kids' education! (Side note- I joined the PTO too, since we will be in this school for awhile I want to make sure my kids will have a great school experience! And maybe I will make some friends along the way ;-) Look at me being a big girl haha) Kaylin was very excited for school to start! Tuesday morning was going well and I asked Kaylin on the way to school if she was excited and she said "Yes, but my heart is beeping really fast!" and the closer we got to school the more nervous she became, saying things like "I don't know about my 1st day mom" and "My tummy hurts". I was holding it together well until she started getting nervous and scared, then I started to get more nervous! It's so hard to watch your babies spread their wings and fly! She went in like a big girl, and I was a big girl and fought back all my tears :-) She had a great 1st day! Day 2 was not as smooth, she was more nervous and started crying that she didn't want to go to school because she would miss me...but she was a big girl again and went in and had another good day! We made it through the 1st week (with a few early-outs due to excessive heat and some of the schools not having air conditioning) and she is excited to go back again next week! It is definitely different having her gone all day, we miss her like crazy (Lucas misses playing with her) but I must say that the dynamic in the house has changed, and kind of for the better. I don't have to break up fights all day and I've been able to have some quality time with the boys. Now I just have to make sure to find the same quality time with Kaylin. It's definitely a change but I'm looking forward to this next chapter of our lives as parents! Lucas will start his preschool on the 15th and is excited....we will see if it stays that way ;-) Cooper loves to roll all over and sometimes he finds Presley. He loves to pet him and pat him :-) Presley is such a trooper and just lays there and he loves to give Cooper kisses. He truly is the World's BEST dog! We are so lucky! |
