Here are just a few pictures from this last month that I thought you would enjoy :-) Now I am all caught up on blogs, and I should really get to packing for our big trip!! I probably won't post anything new until after the new year! We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So I'm not very happy about it, but I cheated on making cookies this year...I just bought the packaged mix and frosting...but oh well! Anyways, we made some cookies last night for Christmas. We did a few like I use to when growing up, where you press the cookie dough with the bottom of a cup covered in colored sprinkles. We also made plain ones that we can decorate for Santa! Kaylin and Cory made a Gingerbread House out of graham crackers and frosting the other night. Well, actually Cory made it while Kaylin snacked on pieces of cracker and frosting ;-) The next day Kaylin and I decorated it and then today we had a craft play date with our MOPS group where she made a little tree out of an ice cream cone that she added to it! Lucas turned 8 months old last week (I completely forgot to do his post earlier). He is still growing like a weed and eating less and less baby food everyday, he is not picky either! I have yet to feed him something that he won't eat! As of this morning he has 6 teeth! Last week he was sporting 1 tooth on top and 3 on bottom, he looked a bit like a hillbilly! He is starting to cruise around furniture and is always getting into mischief! Cory and I always get a good chuckle when we catch him trying to get something he knows he isn't suppose to have (like his night light in his room, or a piece of dog food) and we say "Lucas!" he will jump and start crawling away at 50 MPH laughing as he goes, he is such a little stinker! And the one thing that absolutely melts my heart is that he now will give you a big ol' sloppy kiss when you ask for one (I can't remember if I have written about this before or not...) He is such a lover and is a big momma's boy, but when daddy walks through the door he is his little shadow, following him around the house until he gets picked up. Here is his 8 month Pongo picture, and a few others that I managed to get before he ran off to find trouble! We dressed the kids up and took them to a park where Santa and Mrs. Claus were visiting! Kaylin was so excited but still too shy to talk to them, but was grinning ear to ear! Lucas was a little concerned and didn't want to have anything to do with Santa! This couple volunteers their time only asking for donations that they choose a charity each year to give the money too! They are great! Here is what our mischievous little elf has been up to lately.... Ok, last but not least! I got this cute little video of the other day of Lucas playing peek-a-boo! This year we "adopted" an Elf from the North Pole. If you haven't heard about "The Elf on the Shelf", you should check it out! Kaylin absolutely loves it and it has really gotten her into the spirit of Christmas, plus it's always nice to have an extra "set of eyes" to encourage her to behave. Basically, Santa sends an elf to watch the kids during the day and at night the elf uses magic to fly back to the North Pole to Santa to report to him how the kids were that day. When he flies back to the house he will be in a new "hiding" spot the next morning for the kids to find him. When Santa sends the elf, you have to give him/her a name. Naturally, we decided to name our elf Elvis (Cory picked that name....obviously!). Typically he comes at night, but I was so excited to get him started, he appeared at nap time! Kaylin is always so eager to find him in the morning, she will often ask about him in the middle of the night when she gets up to go potty. Here is what Elvis has been up to since he has arrived at the Ott house..... Thanksgiving weekend we busted out all of our Holiday decorations to get ready for Christmas! Kaylin has been talking and asking about Christmas since August....literally! But getting everything out, setting up the tree and decorating it brought a whole new joy to her! The twinkle in her eye and seeing the joy in her absolutely melts my heart. I CAN"T WAIT until Christmas, it is going to be so much fum with these two! Kaylin has a very specific list of items she wants from Santa, particularly a Princess bike and a helmet, it is the ONLY thing she mentions when you ask her what she wants and she practically drools when she sees the commercial for it! Hopefully Santa can deliver all her hopes and dreams ;-) (I have a good feeling he will be able to pull through hehe)! We have also started the Elf on a Shelf tradition this year-there will be a post to follow about that! I am trying to do a little activity everyday leading up to Christmas to get Kaylin in the spirit! So far we went to our town's Holiday Lights Parade, we went on a walk around our neighborhood and looked at lights, Kaylin and I made Snowflakes, and we have been reading lots of Christmas stories and watching lots of Christmas movies! I have more ideas to keep us busy :-) And in case you are thinking "Hmm, it's only December 3rd, why are there so many ornaments on the Advent Calendar?" Well, since we are going to be in IA on Christmas, we are going to ask Santa to visit a little early :-) So we started our count down a little early! I have a lot of catching up to do....so be prepared for several posts... This blog entry is devoted entirely to Lucas, who is trying his hardest to keep up with his big sister and growing WAY to fast for this Momma! He is all over the place now (not that it is much different from before) but now he is pulling himself up to standing, and he is FAST (still not much different that before, but still...)! He wants to eat everything is sight, from food, dog food, paper, to phone chargers (I think he may be looking for an extra boost, however, that is probably not the way to go). The other day he ate a little rubber pad (from the bottom of the sub woofer box) that is about the size of a dime....we are still waiting for that to make it's way through his system, but he does't seem to be affected by it :-/ He has started eating some finger foods and loves them. He is really good at picking them up and getting them into his mouth by himself. My "favorite" thing he does is blow raspberries and spit his food ALLLL over, it's just adorable...not really....but I can't help but love the ornery smirk he gives after doing it, it's like he knows he isn't suppose to. He is already too much like his father, it's scary! He also (kind of) gives kisses, it's so sweet (and a tad slobbery). And he has popped his 3rd tooth, and waiting on his 4th anytime now. He is crawling more and more everyday on his hands and knees, and has mastered going from crawling to sitting and back with no problem! He is also getting the hang of walking while holding onto your fingers. |
