While taking my weekly belly photo, Kaylin wanted in on the action! She wants to be just like mommy :)

Earlier this week I did a little research on pumpkin patches in our area so we could get a pumpkin to carve and have a little family fun! I had come across this family farm, and it is only about 10 miles away from us! So Thursday after Cory got home we made a little family trip to check it out! They had a lot of fun things to offer, but of course they cost extra money and were mostly geared towards older children (jump houses, pony rides, zip-lines, corn mazes, rope courses, plus lots more), they also had some free things to do too. They had a little petting zoo that we checked out ($1/person and Kaylin was free so it was affordable!). Kaylin really loved it and petting the animals! They had a goat pen too where you could go in with the goats and pet them and feed them, they were very "in your face" while looking for food and Kaylin wasn't too sure about that. We walked around and checked everything out, she enjoyed watching all the action and talking to the horses. I really wanted to take Kaylin on the jumping pillows, but apparently "adults aren't allowed" pshhh.....this was right after seeing an adult, or at least a person who was about my size, on them....whatever! Their loss! So we just picked out our pumpkins! Kaylin of course wanted to pick the biggest, but we settled on a medium sized one, and let her pick out 2 small ones for herself! After Thanksgiving we plan to go back since they turn the farm into a "Holiday Farm" and have a Santa and real reindeer, a light show and some fun craft activities. It sounds like a lot of fun! Plus they have a big sledding hill, but I don't think we will be doing that this year! Friday afternoon we carved our pumpkin. I wasn't sure if Kaylin would get into it or not since she has been kind of a weirdo lately about textures or getting stuff on her hands, but she actually did well! She pulled some of the goo out, but was a little unsure! She picked a picture out of a book for daddy to carve, and of course she chose the kitty! I thought it turned out pretty good! The other day, Kaylin and I made some playdough for her to play with while I unpacked some more boxes (believe it or not, she isn't much help with that "simple" task!) She did so well with it! She sat at her little table and entertained herself for quite awhile, and she didn't even eat any! (Presley on the other hand was quite interested!) Just thought I would post this little video of Kaylin and Presley, she has been all about giving Presley marshmallows lately (his treats). So I showed her how to get him to shake! She loves telling him "Good Boy" but it usually comes out as "Boy!". She sure loves her pup! Here is my 16 week belly picture! I have an appointment made for November 9th with my new doctor here, hopefully I like her! And hopefully we will get an appointment made for an ultrasound at that appointment too! I need to know what this baby is going to be!
Here are some more pictures since the move.... *Playing outside while taking a much needed break from unpacking! *Kaylin's big girl bed- she has been doing great! We usually only have to tell her once or twice to get back into bed and she will stay and fall asleep on her own! (one night it was a game to her and had to be told/helped like 10 times....until I shut her door, resulting in tears and then she knew I was serious haha) *Last night she helped daddy make his famous apple pie! She mostly enjoyed eating the apples, playing with the flour and standing on the step stool next to daddy! Well, we made the trip safe and sound and are working on getting settled into our new home. I suppose we are kind-of officially California residence...weird....well, it doesn't really matter where we live, we will always be Iowa people living in Califonia! I know there have been a lot of requests for pictures of the house, and I promise they will come soon! I want our house to look like a "home" and not a cardboard box fort haha! So to recap on all of our events... We packed the truck on Friday the 14, it took us most of the day and was kind of a puzzle towards the end, it was packed to the ceiling, wall to wall and to the door! We did have to leave a few things behind, but nothing that was really important. That night we had a little dinner with some family (mostly Cory's since all of mine are out of town). It was nice to spend time with family before we left. We got up early Saturday morning and after a few tears shed, we hit the road! Kaylin was GREAT in the car (for the most part). I didn't dig into all of her toys and goodies until necessary, I didn't want to run out of things for her to do! We stopped at rest stops and had little picnics and ran around for awhile. Presley was a trooper as well, he literally slept the ENTIRE time in the car, except for when we stopped. Towards the end of the 2nd day and into the 3rd Kaylin wasn't as thrilled about getting pack in her carseat, I kind of had to wrestle her into it while she screamed"OUT" :( But who can blame her, I wanted to cry at the thought of getting back in the car too! She quickly got over it, and enjoyed watching some DVD's to help during the rough patches. At night we stayed at Motel 6, since they allowed dogs and they were super cheap (but let me tell you, you get what you pay for!). The first night we stopped in Cheyenne, WY and it was a bit sketchy! We were so close to a train track that if it would have derailed it would have smashed us! The second night we stopped in Elko, NV and it was a little bit better. We got to see a lot of beautiful sights along the way, like the Mountains, and some not so nice views, like a pile of dead cows on the side of the road.....??? One of the most memoral moments of the trip was shortly after getting into California there is an agricultural check-point where they stop everyone to check to see if they are bringing produce or plants into the state (I think to prevent from bringing in diseases). Well we pull up the guy (at this point my dad was driving Cory's truck with me and Kaylin) and the agriculture guy asks my dad "Do you have any produce or plants sir" Dad: "No, just lunch meats and packaged products" Guy "Ok, Thanks" and off we drove (regardless of the fact that we had smuggled in a bunch of Deal's apples -whoops! Hehe) About 10 miles down the road my dad turns to me and says "do you think he saw the apple in the front dash?!" (My dad had put it there after lunch intending to eat it on the drive) Bahaha, we had a good laugh about that! We arrived at our new home Monday evening and started the unpacking fun! A special thanks to our dads for helping us make this insane move! Here are some pictures from the adventure so far... Well, as many of you may already know, we have found a house to rent in Tracy, CA and will be leaving this coming Saturday for our new adventure! My dad and Cory's dad are taking the time (and patience) to help us drive all of our stuff out there. I will have more details (address and pictures, etc) after we get moved out there and settled!
This last weekend was full of fun! My sister came home since it would be the last weekend we would get to spend together before we move. Saturday we went out to Deal's Apple Orchard's annual Fall Fest! Kaylin had a lot of fun! Papa Mark,Grandma Chele, Uncle Chad and Aunt Tiff also joined us! There was a lot of fun things to do: We did the straw maze, apple sling shot, went to the kids area where Kaylin went into the corn box (very concerned about the corn getting between her toes so we had to put her shoes back on!), went on a hay ride, made sand art, and checked out the pumpkins (even though we didn't buy any due to the upcoming move). It was a very windy, but fun morning! (If you look back to last October's posts, you can see pictures from last year to compare! We took some of the "same" poses) Saturday afternoon we made monster cookies and then on Sunday we went to visit Great Grandma Clingan in Boone, it was a very nice visit and Grandma was in a really good mood (always a good thing!) So I'm trying to get caught up on a few posts before our big move.... Last week Kaylin and I went to Great Grandma Handley's to make some of her famous chocolate chip cookies! Kaylin loved it, she is going to be my little baker for sure! She got to put in all of the ingredients and kept asking for more to add. Here are a few pictures from making "ookies" (as Kaylin calls them)! |
