* I apologize if the last video makes you a little nauseous- Lucas was attempting to help me take the video ;-)
Since the moment we found out Kaylin was a girl I have been dreaming about this day, and it has finally arrived!! I signed Kaylin up for a 6 week intro dance class through the city that teaches basic tap and ballet. She loved picking out her very own dance outfit, testing out her shoes at home, and practicing her dance moves! She was so excited! She did really good with leaving me (I was just outside the little studio watching from the window). At first she was a little hesitant because she didn't know I wasn't going in with her, and only once during the class did she come to the door looking for me (she saw me taking her picture through the window), but after a quick kiss she went back to her class and was a great listener! I took the best pictures I could through the window and a few videos. (I'm putting them all up because they were just too cute to pick just one). When the class was done, she just sat in their waiting after all the other girls had come out, she wanted to dance more and kept saying "More dance class, Mommy!" She was not happy that it was done so quickly! (My heart was BEAMING at this point!) She (and I) can't wait for next week's class! * I apologize if the last video makes you a little nauseous- Lucas was attempting to help me take the video ;-)

I have been trying to work on the "Hand Writing Without Tears" program with Kaylin during the days. HWWT is a program the center I used to work at did with the preschool children to help teach them their letters and how to write them. Kaylin is very smart (in my opinion) but still struggles with her alphabet and letters, I honestly think it's just because she doesn't have enough confidence in herself. I want to try and get a video of her singing her ABC's because it's kind of funny, it usually goes a little bit like this: "A, B,C, Q, U, E Q, Q, U, U, W, Y, Z, Now I know ABC" haha, needless to say we have a bit of work to do. I would like to think she would know them by now since we literally sing the ABC's like a million times a day!! Anyways, part of the HWWT program is learning how to build Mat Man (I'm not entirely sure of the purpose behind it, but I think it's because it helps them get familiar with the shapes they use with the letters, and to know how to draw a person?) She LOVES to do Mat Man and is really pretty good at it! We have also worked on the letter's A & B, but she isn't really into it, apparently it's not cool unless it's a person. I took some pictures of her building Mat Man, and she drew "Mat Man" last night which made me so proud. Granted it doesn't exactly look like Mat Man, but that isn't the point. The fact that she drew something and could point to and tell me what the parts were is absolutely amazing :) She was also drawing circles and tell me that is was circles, which was a first for her too!! I am so proud of her! So last night I laid Lucas on the floor in our room so I could go put Kaylin to bed. And what do you think I came back to see??? Our little 5 month old baby CRAWLING (Army crawling)! What?! That's not suppose to happen yet!! Kaylin didn't crawl until 7 1/2 months...I am NOT ready for him to be on the go! It's like he is stuck on fast forward and trying to catch up to his sister! I suppose I don't get a choice in that though, I better start baby proofing! Wish us luck! Our little man is 5 months old today! It seems like yesterday our house was constantly filled with family visiting to see our new little baby....I sure miss that! He is one of the world's happiest babies, most of the time! He loves attention and being talked and sang to. His favorite thing is if you "scare" him, just saying "boo" to him makes him bust up in giggles...he is easily entertained ;-) He still hasn't mastered rolling from tummy to back (which is weird since that is usually the 1st they do), he does it here and there but it usually seems like an accident. I noticed yesterday that his 2 bottom front teeth are getting close to pop through! I didn't even know he was really even getting teeth! He has been chewing on his hands and pretty much anything he can get his hands on for awhile now, but I wasn't really expecting teeth yet. Kaylin didn't get her first tooth until she was 7 1/2 months! We have been working on sitting up a little, but he still arches his back a lot and throws himself backwards. Not much else new with him I guess, just being adorable :-) I have added his Pongo pictures, as well as a few others. We were of course cheering on our Cyclones last weekend when they played against Iowa. We unfortunately didn't get the channel it was on, so we watched it through Skype on my parents' TV! The things a parents will do for their children :-). It worked out really well and to top it off, the Cyclones beat Iowa! Anyways, I took a picture of the kids supporting our favorite team and thought I would share.
Here are a few videos I took this week for your viewing pleasure! The first one is of Kaylin entertaining Lucas and making him laugh, all while getting in trouble at the same time...she is rather talented! The second is of Kaylin trying out her new dance outfit that she picked out today. She is going to be the best dressed, and probably the best dancer in her class, by the looks of it ;-) Enjoy! A town nearby held their annual hot air balloon festival. We got up extra early to get there around 7 am to see the hot air balloons being blown up (if that's what you call it?). It was really neat and Kaylin loved it, even Lucas seemed to like watching. Unfortunately it was too windy for them to take off, but at least we got to see them. They also had a lot of activities going on. We saw giant kites, sky divers, a helicopter (it was a fundraiser for the children's hospital so they brought in the life flight for everyone to see), Kaylin and I rode some rides (the tea cups, big slide and she went in a jump-house), Kaylin got her face painted, and she made her own little hot air balloon to hang in her room. It was a great family fun day and we can't wait until next year to go back!! Lucas thought he would impress us one night and show of his sitting skills. He was actually doing pretty good sitting up all by himself considering his age! Last week the circus came to town and we made it our family night activity! It was an animal-free circus which was ok, since I didn't have to worry about an elephant stampede or getting eaten by a tiger! I thought it was pretty good, considering and Kaylin loved it (that's what really mattered!) They had a lot of cool acts: trapeze, tight-rope walking, clowns, giant metal ball with motorcycles driving around in it, etc. Afterwards we went to IHOP to have supper. All-in-all we had a great time :-) |
