So here are just a few more pictures that my friend took for me while we were at the water park, I just couldn't resist posting them :-)

Ok....last but not least! Today we went with a bunch of our friends to the Mountain House Water Park for a picnic lunch and water play! It has a giant splash pad to run around in and lots of equipment, but we only played in the water today. Kaylin wasn't too into it at first and wouldn't go out without me. She eventually warmed up and played more. I think she would have had more fun had she not woken up before 6 am ;-) Lucas even got to explore the water a little bit. He wasn't thrilled at first (possibly because I woke him up from his nap and put him in semi-cold water haha) but then was ok with it. I can't wait until he gets a little older to enjoy it more! We can't wait to go back and take Daddy there, it is a beautiful park! The last of our visitors (for now) have come and gone....this past week Cory's Grandma Handley (or Grammy Hammy as Kaylin calls her) and her sister Janet ("Jet") drove out from IA to visit us! We had a lot of fun playing around the house (it was very hot while they were here!), making Grammy's famous cookies and Cory even took them to San Fransisco one day! We were sad to see them go, Kaylin really enjoyed their visit! Who knew that 2 "old" ladies could be so entertaining and fun to a 2 year old! Lucas also got lots and lots of love! Ok....so there isn't much to this post, other than photos of our cute little man! A few weekends ago, while looking for something fun to do, Cory decided to surprise Kaylin after nap by getting the tent out for her to play in. She had a blast playing in it, reading books, and pretending to camp. We grilled and ate outside and made Smores on the grill too! It was a lot of fun :-) Kaylin has always loved books but has really take more of an interest in them recently! She is always "reading" them to anyone who will listen....here are a few cute pictures I have taken over the past few weeks. So I have a lot of catching up to do, so hold on to your hats! Kaylin and I finally got around to making our Manatee sugar cookie kit that my Aunt Kathryn and Uncle Mark sent out to us! Manatees are my FAVORITE animal so it was one of the coolest gifts I have ever gotten ;-) Kaylin had fun rolling, cutting and decorating them! Today Lucas is 2 months old today and I took him in for his check-up. He is 25 inches long (98%!), 13 lb. 6 oz. (76%) and his head circumference is 41 cm (87%). Everything checked out well and the Doctor had no concerns. She was really impressed with how well he was holding his head up and that he could almost hold himself up on his elbows. I was rather disappointed with our Doctor (which was a first since I have really liked her up until now) because I had expressed a concern about how we had noticed within the last month that when we go to pick him up under his arms when he is crying/tense that he screams in pain like something hurts under his arm. Instead of checking it out and at least pretending to look at it she just said "well he puts weight on it and moves it, so it's ok"....ummm, ok?? That was rather irritating. Anyways, we are going to keep an eye on it and probably get a second opinion if it doesn't stop. He got his shots, and of course broke my heart with his cries. I would rather go through labor again that to have to see by babies in pain for 30 seconds :( He is obviously bigger than Kaylin. At her 2 month check-up she was 10 lb 6 oz (40%), 23 inches (80%), and her head was in the 35%. Here is his 2 month Pongo picture :) Plus a few more showing off his many faces! I also added a cute video of him chatting...please excuse the very ending, it was cute until then haha Well, the month of May has come and gone...things change so much in just a matter of a month! Kaylin is changing by leaps and bounds, she seems to be talking more and more each day...I'm starting to worry she isn't going to stop! She knows and understands things that I find far beyond the understanding of a typical toddler and I don't know where she learns it. She is constantly cracking us up with her little antics....for example she likes to tip toe up to someone and "scare" or tickle them, and when she wants something she will pretend her hand is a spider and creeps up on it and snatches and laughs. She is my #1 little helper, she loves to help put the dishes away, get me things for Lucas, put his pacifier in his mouth when he is crying (even though we are working on the whole "gentle" concept-she thinks that if he doesn't take it right away she must push harder, resulting in an even more upset baby!), feeding Presley, etc. Her imagination has exploded, she is always talking with her babies or on her phones as if she is having a conversation, and she is going to be one good mommy someday! Her baby dolls are the most loved babies in CA! She pretends to feed them (by bottles and by nursing!) and puts them in the swing, car seat, bouncy seat, etc. She is one curious little girl, she is always asking "What's that?" or "What doing Mom/Dad/Pres?" And I will answer her but she will continue to ask the same thing over and over and over....oh the joys of toddler curiosity! I could go on and on about Kaylin....but that will take awhile. Her newest development (in progress) is that she is potty training. We have been seriously working on it for about 2 weeks. One day I just decided that it was time and I put her in panties. She has done well for the most part, with a few accidents each day (ok, so some days it was SEVERAL accidents). We started a sticker chart for her when she goes potty and when she fills it up she gets to pick a "prize" from the prize jar. Some of her prizes include: playing with play-dough, making cookies with mommy, going on bike ride with daddy, pick out a new book, painting her nails, ice cream, going to the park, etc. I wanted to come up with "prizes" that weren't necessarily material items for multiple reasons- #1-they cost money!! #2- I want her to appreciate the little things in life and not always expect to just get a new toy for doing a good job. Spending special time with mommy or daddy is just as special! Anyways....She is doing better and better each day, she is now starting to tell us that she has to go potty before she goes, not as she is going or after she already went! She has even woken up a few times in the middle of the night to tell me she had to go, which was rather surprising! Even while we are out and about and she has a pull-up on she does well (when we went to SF she only had 1 accident and it was while we were in the bathroom stall, so I was very impressed!) On to Lucas..... Well, he is one growing little man! I was a little teary-eyed yesterday as I put on a 6 month sleeper on him and it fit him perfectly :( I knew his 3 month ones were getting a little snug, but was apparently in denial! He weighs probably close to 13 lbs (this is a guess, from the very official "weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding Lucas" method). His little baby hair fell out and is now quickly growing back. He has adorable little blondish-light brown peach fuzz! When he is awake he is usually all smiles! His favorite song is "Soft Kitty" from the Big Bang Theory LOL! He cracks a smile almost every time we sing it, especially when daddy does! And I swear he giggled for the first time the other night in his sleep as I was cuddling him after I fed him before bed. It was the most precious sound....makes me wonder what he was dreaming about, probably his nutty sister! I have been blessed with yet another good sleeper! For the last week or so he has been sleeping pretty much through the night, usually waking around 5 to eat and then goes back to bed. He also puts himself to sleep, I put him in his bed when he's getting tired with his pacifier and tag blanket (he likes it snuggled right up by his face-plus it helps hold his pacifier in!). He loves his "b" (tag blanket) just like his sister! I wait until he is asleep then I move it away from his face just to be safe. Well....I suppose that's enough for now....props to you if you are still reading this :-) Here are some pictures from the month of May! |
