Cory picked up some bubbles at the store and we decided to try them out with Kaylin to see what she thinks! She was amused by them and reached for them.....then Presley came along.....he always steals the show! Haha, but man do we love him!

So, after having shots and pushing a bedtime without her evening nap, you would expect a very crabby baby, but not my baby!! We were playing together on the floor and I began to do silly things and nibble on her chubby knees and she began the most beuatiful belly laughs!! She has laughed before, but not like this! Excuse the weird conversation I am having with her, I was just trying to keep her laughing! I hope you enjoy it as much I did (and do every time I watch it!) I think she will grow up to be an actress, in this 2 minute clip you will see her laugh, fake cry, wine, scream.....she can do it all! (Sorry for the crazy camera job, I was trying to record and bite her knees at the same time)! Today Kaylin had her 6 month check-up, and her Doctor said she is doing great! She weighed 16 lbs 8 oz. (62%), 26 1/2 in (80%)-she was the same length at her 4 month check up, so the Doctor thinks that we may have measured wrong last time, but either way she isn't worried! And her head circumference was 16 1/4 in. (20%). I expressed my concerns about her eating: "Is she getting enough fluids? Am I feeding her enough/too many solids? When do I add more foods? etc." She pretty much told us "Feed her whatever! As long as she won't choke (and allergy foods) she can try it! If she is hungry/thirsty she will eat if it's offered, if not, she's not hungry" So, as simple as that, huh? Just feed her? Ok!! Let the fun begin : ) I think I may attempt home-made baby food this weekend and see how it goes! The rest of the appointment was good, Kaylin LOVED that paper stuff that covers the table, she ripped it up and tried to eat it, she really loves the sound of it when she crinkles it! There were a few tears with her shots, but she handled it better this time than before. Overall, she is perfect : )
Today Kaylin is 6 months old! I can't believe it! She has changed and grown so much is a matter of a few months! Some of her new things include: sitting up by herself- which is still a work in progress but she does pretty well! She is rolling over, when she isn't being lazy that is! Giving lots of kisses- she will grab your face and slap a big jucy one on you! It is adorable and by far my favorite thing! I will have to get some pictures of that and put it up because it is so sweet! She is the happiest baby I know, she hardly ever cries unless she is hungry, hurt, or tired...and even then she hardly cries! She is so much fun, and I just can't get enough of her! I wish I could spend every second of every day with her, but unfortunately the bills won't pay themselves :) As usual, I have posted her Mongo pictures. The first set are her 6 months and the second set are her mongo pictures from every month so you can see how much she has grown! Tomorrow she has her 6 month check-up, so I will post how it went and all her measurements tomorrow! Plus Cory has an interview tomorrow, so fingers crossed!!
Since Cory has been temporarily layed off from his job, he has gotten the pleasure of staying home and taking care of Kaylin (jealous mom here!) These are some pictures he has taken while at home with her!
We (my sister and I) decided to take a break from unpacking and take Kaylin out for a dip in her new little baby pool! She loved it! It was so hot and humid out that the camera was fogging up, so that is why some of the 1st pictures are a little foggy! Kaylin was doing so well sitting up all by herself!
As I mentioned in the previous post we have moved (yes, yet again!). We have actually moved back to the Westfield Apartments that we lived in originally for 3 years. They had a 3 bedroom open and we decided that we had loved it so much here that we wanted to come back! It is so quiet and we feel safer here, plus the manager begged us to come back and payed us to! I will post some pictures of the new place once we get settled (you really don't want to see pictures of boxes all over the floors!). Our new address is:
The Ott Family 5910 West Lincoln Way #105 Ames, IA 50014 We would love visitors, so give us a call if you want to stop by : ) Hopefully we will be unpacked by the time we have visitors! Okay, so this post will contain a lot of Kaylin's "firsts" that have happened over the past few weeks that I haven't had time to post! On July 27th, I had layed Kaylin down for her evening nap, when I went in to check on her this is how I found her! The little stinker rolled over when nobody was watching! She has done this a few times since then, but of course we never get to see it! On July 31st, Kaylin had baby food for the 1st time! She had sweet potatoes with her cereal, I think she was suprised when there was actually flavor with her cereal! She has loved everything so far! She has had sweet potatoes, peaches, and green beans. She is growing up so fast : ( Eventually I will be making most of her baby food myself, but since I got a bunch of baby food for free as gifts and from work and with the hassle of moving, jar food is more convenient right now. I think making baby food will save us a ton of money and I had a friend who did it for her baby and she made it sound really easy, so we will see! I have a bunch of recipies that I can't wait to try out! I will have to do a post on that when that time comes! While we moved to our new (kind of old?!) apartment on August 1st, and while we moved our friend's, the Reuter's, watched Kaylin for us so we could actually get something done! So she got to have her 1st playdate! Bre took some pictures for me, even though she never got the chance to get pictures of the kids playing together, but there will be plenty of time for that! Thanks to the Reuter's for watching her, it was a HUGE help! And a HUGE thank you to all of our family (both of our parents and all of our siblings) for helping us move...we know we have a lot of stuff and you guys always pull through for us with smiles on your faces- kind of ; ) The other night we tried a sippy cup with Kaylin, she did pretty good! She was kind of unsure and it came out faster than she was used to, but she figured it out pretty quick! She is constantly putting things in her mouth! She loves to grab daddy's pops and put the straw in her mouth, and anything else you are trying to eat or drink! Her other newly found talents include: pinching your face; giving kisses; pulling hair and glasses; screaming just to hear her beautiful voice and to get anybody's attention; grabbing/pulling the dogs ears, tails and fur; and biting (luckily she has no teeth!). Ok, so they aren't really talents, but they are what she is good at! We have been working on "gentle touches", even though we know she is too young to really understand us, but I guess it doesn't hurt to start early! Other than that she is perfect in every way and we can't get enough of her! So, these are Kaylin's 4 month pictures, even though she is almost 5 1/2 months now! It just goes to show how busy we have been! Obviously some are edited, but I think they turned out pretty good!
