Today is Presley's 1st birthday! Since we never thought we would see this day, we went all out for it (call us crazy, but we LOVE our dogs!) I made him a special cake out of his dog food and pumpkin topped with marshmallows (the only things he can eat!) and put it in a teddy bear mold, Gizmo got a little cupcake to celebrate too! Cory picked out Transformer's hats for the "party", and Presley got lots of presents!! I think he had a good birthday!

I thought I would post some pictures of Kaylin's room for everyone to see! Unfortunately we can't paint where we live, so we make do with the lovely white walls! *For some reason, it won't let me add the captions on the pictures, so I will explain it here: #1-The sign my mom made for her room, #2-Decorations on her wall, #3-Handprint poem, #4-Footprint poem, #5-Changing table/dresser, #6-Glider and the curtains my mom made for her room, #7- Another view, #8-Kaylin's book collection (just a few to pick from!). #9-Kaylin's crib and her name I made to go above it, #10- Closet/Dresser, #11-Sleeping baby!, #12-Kaylin's Hair bow and Headband collection! She is one styling baby!
So today while Cory was at work, Kaylin and I were bored so we thought we would have a little photo shoot! I think they turned out pretty cute (but I'm a little biased!) I also used www.picknik.com to edit some. These were my favorites, I included both the originals and edited versions. Note to the last one: photo shoot is over! Enjoy!
Kaylin is 2 months old today! I can't believe how fast these 2 months have gone by! She is still cooing and smiling a lot! I love coming home from a LONG day at work and listen to her tell me about her day! Yesterday was her 2 month check-up, she weighed 10 lbs 5 oz, and was 23" long! She was in the 40% for weight and 80% for height. She also had a head circumference of 15 cm, which is in the 35%, so she must not have her father's head! She also got her first set of shots :(. The 2 nurses came in and they each held a leg down while Cory held her arms, her face had a puzzled look that seemed to say "Uh, what's going on?". Then when they poked her, Kaylin's eyes popped open, jaw dropped and she did the "silent scream" for a second before she let out the blood-curdling cry! During all of this, my heart was breaking! She looked so terrified! Well, we survived the first shots and she hasn't been too fussy (probably with the help of Tylenol!) I have added her 2 month picture with Mongo the Monkey, and a few others I took!
This last Saturday we went with our friends, the Reuter's, to VEISHEA! In our almost 4 years of living in Ames, we have never explored VEISHEA (I know, it's sad!). So this year we went to the pancake breakfast and to the parade. We didn't get to do much else because Cory had to work, but hopefully next year when Kaylin is older we will get to do more! Kaylin slept throught the whole parade, drums and all. The only thing that startled her was a motorcycle! I added some pictures of us waiting for the parade!
Here are some pictures of Kaylin playing this last month!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I put the video of Presley helping himself to the ice in the cooler after Kaylin's baptism lunch up...Enjoy! Kaylin is now 6 weeks old! I can't believe it! She is really focusing on faces and toys, she loves to listen to you talk and to music. She has started to coo at us, and I can tell a smile is just around the corner! Next week I have to go back to work : (. We have found a really great home daycare here in Ames that has 5 other children, who are all older. She won't start there until April 26th, we are lucky enough to have Cory's dad, my mom and Cory to cover the first two weeks. It's going to be really interesting getting us all ready and out the door by 6:30 am! We have been practicing getting up earlier, but it's going to be ugly for a couple of weeks! Kaylin is growing like a weed, and getting more and more beautiful by the day (if that is even possible!).
Presley had another check up today and they did the complete blood count. His red blood count was down a little from last time (it was 29.9, today it was 26.6) but they weren't really concerned about it. His blood work also showed that his body is making more red blood cells than before and the cells are looking better (before they looked abnormal), so that is awesome! Last time he had a lot of cell fragments in his blood and they classified it as "moderate", today he had fewer and classified it as "rare"! So all in all, it was a really great check up! He goes back again in a month for another re-check, but they are confident he is on the right path. It's sad to say that I almost enjoy taking him to the vet, but everyone at the ISU vet school has been really great, we are always greeted with a smile and a "Hey, Presley!" At least 3 people passing in the halls stop to say hi to Presley, and I don't even know who they are, but the ALL know Presley (they ought to with as much as we have been there!). I know he is always in good hands there and everyone LOVES him, we have several of the students and Doctors who "stalk" Presley and see when he is coming in so they can stop and see him! Gizmo is still Gizmo...grumpy! He has been enjoying some extra days at Nana and Papa's house (his favorite) chasing squirrels and barking at the neighborhood "Mean Kitty" (as Papa calls it)! Here is a picture of Kaylin's first Easter with her Easter basket! She got some rattles, her first cell phone, a teether toy and an Easter book! Saturday morning Kaylin and I went to the Ames city wide Easter Egg hunt with our friends, the Reuter's! Kaylin obviously didn't join in on the hunt, but it was fun to watch all the crazy kids (and parents!) gather eggs. Saturday night we went to Grandma Handley's for supper with Cory's family, and Sunday my parents came over for the day and we had supper together. |
