December has just begun and we have already been busy! Cory has been working extra hard in the basement every night after work to get Kaylin's room done (I will do a post on that once the room is all done); we have put up our tree and decorated for Christmas; Amanda, Adam and Claire came for a short visit to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train and for a visit to Santa! And we have a lot more fun planned for the rest of the month! PLUS getting ready for the baby to come....honestly, I'm not sure how it's all going to get done!

For Thanksgiving we went back to Jefferson to spend Thanksgiving with family for the 1st time in 3 years and it was great! The kids had fun playing with cousins, and spending time with their grandparents. They even got to play outside in the snow a bit before it melted- including a special ride in the sled behind the mower (don't worry, it was going very slow). We can't wait to go back for Christmas! This pregnancy so far has been pretty typical for me...easy going and going fast! We have decided to not find out the sex of the baby since we already have one of each and this will be our last so we thought the surprise would be fun! I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks which showed I had a lower lying placenta and the baby had a dilated renal tube on one kidney, which both called for a follow up ultrasound at 24 weeks. Luckily both issues were not present at the 2nd ultrasound so everything is going great now! Here are a few pictures through out the pregnancy. Only 6ish weeks left! 33 Weeks with all 3 pregnanciesHere is a little update on our kiddos....
Kaylin is now 4 1/2 years old and full of sass, spunk and glitter. She is very much a girly-girl who is having a hard time adjusting to Iowa weather and the fact that she can't wear skirts and dresses everyday (although it certainly doesn't stop her from asking!) She started a new dance studio here in Dubuque in September and is going tap and ballet. She absolutely loves is and I can't wait for her recital in May :-) She started 4 year old Pre-K at one of the public elementary schools in late September after we got moved into the house, she is doing so well and loves all her friends and teachers. She has been working on writing her letters (which she already had practice in) and counting to 20 and learning to recognize and write the numbers. Her favorite day is Library day when she gets to pick out a book from the library to bring home for the week. At her parent-teacher conference they told us what letters she could recognize, which were very few when we KNOW she knows them all. We've noticed (and so have her teachers) that she gets nervous and second guesses herself a lot when she is quizzed by others, making her teachers think she doesn't know them. So we are working on trying to boost her confidence and praise her so she doesn't have to worry about getting something "wrong". She is so excited to be a big sister again soon, she is always hugging and kissing my belly and talking to the baby. She is going to be LOTS of help when the baby arrives (however, I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not yet haha). She continues to be a great big sister to Lucas and loves to play together with him, even though they are the "typical" brother and sister....lots and lots of fighting! But when they do get along, it's pretty adorable :-) She has such a goofy personality and loves to chat anyone's ear off if they will let her...she is full of all sorts of ideas and stories! Lucas is 2 1/2 and has been hitting the "terrible two's" really hard lately...I'm hoping that this passes before the baby comes (however, I am definitely NOT holding my breath). He can be sweet as ever one second and does what I ask with an "alright mom!", then you turn around and he is a stubborn, screaming mess. More often than not we leave to pick Kaylin up from school without his shoes on because and a wrestling match in the carseat because he doesn't want to stop what he is doing to leave. And don't get me started on taking him to stores with those damn "car carts"...... Anyways, on a more positive note :-) Lucas has been potty trained for about a month or so now. He picked it up so fast, I was actually shocked! It look him about a week to be completely potty trained with only a hand-full of accidents! He even stays dry all night (typically). I'm not sure why I thought he would be hard, he was 100x easier than Kaylin! He has been talking up a storm for awhile now, but he is constantly taking us by surprise with some of the things he says....I adore when he tells me something is "frusterating" him (frustrating) and his all time favorite and most used phrase is " Oh Bumpers" (from a train show he watches) whenever something doesn't go his way. We might be biased, but we think he is going to be a smarty just like his sister ;-) He loves to ride his strider bike (like 100 miles an hour) and play with his cars, trains and "guys" (little figurines). He loves to play with Kaylin and take anything that she has in her hands. The kid is a walking garbage disposal lately, he must be going through a growth spurt, because I swear he doesn't but 10 minutes without asking for something to eat. I'm going to have to start a side job just to feed him! Lucas is goofy and loves to make people laugh, yet he is also sweet and very sensitive. He has really come out of his shell since we have moved back and it makes me so happy. Before, he wouldn't leave my side in large groups or when we came back to visit with family, and refusing to have anything to do with family members. And now he is comfortable with most all of our family (still sometimes shy) and will give out hugs and kisses willingly....usually ;-) And then there is Presley....oh Presley...he has been "battling" some unknown allergy for about a year now....none of our vets can seem to really figure it out (what's new, this dog is always a mystery). He has chewed his paws absolutely raw, scratched until he bled, and licks his feet obsessively. We have gone through treatments of antibiotics, steroids, anti-fungal treatments, and foot baths....we kind of have it "under-control" as of right now (but not really)....however with the steroids he is on, it makes him a ravenous 'roid-raging beast who just can't eat enough...his newest "stunt" is that he has figured out he can dump out the kitchen garbage can (even when it's locked) and go dumpster diving for goodies....I am less than impressed with this new "talent"! I guess he has plans to keep us on our toes for his entire life! Good thing we love him and that he's cute! Well, I think that's about all for now! I've included Kaylin's Pre-K school picture too :-) |
