After the lunch we had after the baptism, Presley discovered that there was ice in the cooler! Since Presley LOVES to eat ice, he thought he would help himself!! We have video of it, and I will try to get that up on here, once I figure out how! He is too smart for his own good! Naughty puppy!

Today we had Kaylin baptised at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. The gown she wore is the same baptismal gown that I wore when I was baptised. The gown was made by Kaylin's Great-Great Grandma Dorothy Ahmann, and the lace on the bottom was from the baptismal gown of Kaylin's Great-Great-Great Grandpa Ahmann. Kaylin is the 6th generation to wear this gown, at least the lace part! She also wore a little gold heart neclace that her Great Grandma Handley gave her when she was born. We had a lot of family there to help us celebrate and enjoyed a nice lunch afterwards! Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate this special day! I have also added some pictures of me wearing the gown when I was baptised 24 years ago! I can't believe that Kaylin is already one month old!! This past month has gone by so fast! Each month I am going to take a picture of Kaylin with Mongo the Monkey that Cory and I made her when I was pregnant. I have had several friends do this with their children and it is fun to watch them grow, so we decided to do it as well! I have also added some other pictures that I took, the last one is my favorite (obviously, since I put it on the home page)!!
Well, Kaylin is doing great! She is staying awake more and for longer periods of time! She is eating well and still sleeping great! Last night she slept through the night, which was awesome for me, but I should have woken her up to eat in the middle of the night but shut my alarm off! Whoops! Right now we are treating her for thrush (a yeast infection in the mouth), but it doesn't seem to bother her. We are having her baptised on March 28th, and she will wear the same baptismal gown that I (Bridget) wore when I was baptised! There is a special history with the gown, but I don't remember it all right now, so I will post that when I do the post on the baptism!
Presley went for another check-up yesterday and his red blood cell count was (drum roll please!).......30!!! So he is almost normal!!! That was GREAT news, BUT (of course there always has to be a 'but' with Presley) they are concerned that his heart murmer was louder than in the past, which it should have been better since he is less anemic. They also saw blood cell fragments in his blood (which they have been there off and on before) and are suspicious of a possible bacteria infection that has possibly settled in his heart. They can't determine this for sure until he has a temperature and can do a blood culture, so we have to check his temperature everyday (which he will love! NOT) and will take him in if he ever gets one--hopefully not! From my understanding this is nothing we need to stress over, just to watch for so we can treat it if he does have an infection. Someday we will be able to go to the vet and have him be healthy, with no "but"s to worry about! Other than that small detail, Presley is doing GREAT and loving this beautiful weather we have been having (except for today and this weekend!). Gizmo is just being Gizmo....a grumpy old man! He is getting more curious about Kaylin but still doesn't really seem to care much about her! Gizmo also is doing better with Presley, he sometimes will curl up next to him on the couch or bed, but don't let him know that you know that. He would like everyone to think that he hates Presley, but we know that deep, DEEP down inside, he really kind of likes him! He has also enjoyed the nice weater and going out on walks with Presley, Kaylin and Mommy (which is kind of a challenge!). Kaylin is lucky enough to be a 5th generation on Cory's Mom's side! We made it back to Jefferson last weekend to get this very special picture taken with Grandma Chele, Great-Great-Grandpa Ford and Great-Grandpa Ford! Cory was also a 5th generation when he was a baby, on the Rice side of the family! Also, a little update on our puppy Presley! As many of you know, Presley has been sick off and on since December. To make a long story short, it started out as a severe allergic reaction to a medication he was on that attacked his bone marrow and landed him in the ICU for 8 days, and he is lucky to be alive. Then as they monitored his progress from that episode, they discovered that he has Inflamatory Bowel Disease and is on a strict diet of Hypoallergenic food, pumpkin, and mini marshmallows (his favorite treats!). They continued to monitor his blood counts and he soon became very anemic and was having fainting episodes. So, after changing medications and giving him a blood transfusion, things still didn't change. The vet had told us we did everything we could do for him and we talked about having him put down. We decided to wait it out a little bit, since he was still feeling "okay" and because we wanted him to meet Kaylin. About 2 days after talking about putting him down, he started to act a little bit more like himself (NAUGHTY!). He continued to gain energy and fell in love with Kaylin. Last week we took him back to the vet to have him re-checked (and to show off his pride and joy, Kaylin, to all his "friends" at the Vet school) and his red blood counts were up 7%!! He is still really anemic and iron defficient (he is at 18% and "normal" is starting at 37%) so he has a ways to go, but at least for now they are going up! He is still feeling well, and we are just enjoying every second of every day that we have with him! We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers for Presley, keep them coming!
Today was Kaylin's 2 week check-up, I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already! She weighed 7 lb. 15 oz. and was 21 1/2 inches long! She is in the 66% for her weight and 99% for her length! She is going to be a tall girl! She is doing well eating and starting to stay awake for longer periods of time, especially in the afternoon and evenings. She is a really happy baby, but when she gets mad she will let you know! My favorite thing about her is her smiles! She usually is full of smiles and silly faces when she is trying to wake up, but is still half asleep. I hope to get pictures soon and get them posted! She always starts my day off great with her big, beautiful smiles!
Just a quick update on our little Kaylin. She still struggles with eating, like she did the days right after she was born. Some days she does really well eating and I am so proud of her, and then there are days where she would rather sleep 23 out of 24 hours of the day. I know I shouldn't complain, but she won't even wake up to eat! So, I called the doctor to see if I should be concerned and they had us bring her in to get weighed. Turns out that she weighs 7 lb. 11 oz., which is good that she isn't losing weight. They said to keep trying to wake her up and get her to eat as much as possible. We will have to continue to be patient with her. I can tell she is already so much like her father, very independent! She doesn't want to be told when and what she has to eat, she is going to decide on her own! I guess I will enjoy the sleep while it lasts!
