Well, it's only Sunday morning and we have had a busy weekend already! Saturday afternoon we went out to the pond where we always go fishing at, everyone's favorite place! This was Kaylin's first trip to the pond, and Presley was only there once last year when he was very young. So it was quite the event! We went and watched the boys fish while the dogs ran around. Kaylin got to see her first fish and was very curious about it! Then things got intersting....Without ever seeing the pond, it's kind of hard to describe, but there are 2 parts to the pond with a small nasty swamp on the side, and Cory was standing on one side of the swamp fishing in the pond and Presley was on the other side of the swamp trying to figure out how to get to Cory. All of the sudden we heard "KERSPLASH!" and look over and Presley is doggy paddling across the nasty swamp to get to Cory!! We were all shocked! I'm kind of thinking that he thought the green scum was something he could walk across, but we will never know what was going through his crazy head! It was pretty funny though! Cory was so proud of his puppy! Needless to say, he got a bath when he got home! Kaylin also had her 1st fishing experience, she will for sure be Daddy and Papa's fishing buddy! Papa had her holding onto the reel, ready for when the fish bite! He was so proud! We had a blast at the pond and can't wait to go back through out the summer! When we got home we grilled out and ate on the deck and hung out! My Aunt Kathryn and Uncle Mark came down from Minnesota for the weekend too, so it was nice spending time with them too. When it got dark we had a bon fire and had smores! (Kaylin was in bed by this time, so she didn't get to enjoy the smores). We had a great day, and can't wait to enjoy the rest of the weekend! I put up a bunch of pictures from our adventure!

So I don't have much to say about Presley's check-up, partly because I wasn't there, and partly because they haven't called about test results! But what I do know is that his red blood cell counts were up from 22 to 27, so thats good, but he is still anemic. We are slowing taking him off of the medication he is on, since they are seeing side effects from it and aren't really sure if it's doing anything. So, we have to keep a close eye on him to make sure he can handle they change (please pray that he does!) So this is where I get really paranoid! Everytime he closes his eyes I'm yelling "Presley! Are you okay buddy?!" and he looks at me like I'm crazy! Everything is good so far, but keep him in your prayers, we aren't out of the woods yet (I'm starting to think we are a little lost in the woods....like a corn maze that we can't find the exit! It's out there, but we are having troubles locating it!) They also did a chemical test of his blood or something, but we haven't heard the results (not sure what they were looking for either! I think it is to try and figure out why he is still anemic) I assume that it's becasue there are new students working in the clinic and they haven't exactly got it all figured out yet, but that's ok, I'm not worried that it's anything bad! So, we go back in about a month (assuming everything goes well until then) and decide what they next step is. I just noticed that I had more to say than I thought....Sorry!!
Here are some pictures of Kaylin playing, she likes tummy time and her jump-a-roo! She is getting so strong!
A few weekends ago we went over to Cedar Rapids to stay with my sister and brother-in-law! We went over Saturday morning and just spent the day hanging out. A family friend of ours has always been into bikes, and owns several PPV's (people powered vehicle) one of which perminantly resides at my sister's house! It is basically a paddle boat on wheels, so we took Kaylin on her first PPV ride (it was actually mine too!!) It was really fun, and apparently Amanda is a crazy driver because it made Kaylin puke (but that also doesn't take much!) Presley aslo got to enjoy a ride with Cory! I added some pictures from the weekend!
Some other exciting news at the Ott house is that Cory has got a new job (finally)! He had set a goal last year that he would be out of Walmart before he was there for a year, and 11 months later....he did! Okay, so it's not exactly in the field of Mechanical Engineering, but its better that Walmart! Starting June 1st he will be working for a company out of Grimes, IA called Cramer and Associates. They repair and build bridges all around Iowa and surrounding areas. It will obviously pay more than Walmart, but he will also have to be gone a lot, so that is a bummer. The first project is in Eagle Grove, and in the fall they will be doing one in Souix City. He gets "laid off" for 3 months in the winter but will still get paid to sit at home and play with his baby all day! So he is looking forward to that! He will have to work long hours and over time but will get most Fridays off and weekends, which is the best part! There is opportunity for him to move up in the company, so we are really excited for this new adventure! Unfortunately I will have to remain at my job for awhile, since he doesn't get insurance for a year, but oh well.... Other exciting news is that we will be moving again!! (Okay, some people are not too excited about this....but I am!) We are actually going to be moving back to the old apartment building we were in before! The 3 bedroom apartment opened up and we are going to take it while it's available or we will regret it! We loved it there, it was so quiet and safe and will be a better place for the dogs outside! There are too many reasons why we love it there to list! So, beginning of August (I think) we will be moving! Any volunteers?!?! I'm sure I will get more volunteers for babysitting than moving though....
Last thing.....last weekend we went to my sister and brother-in-laws and I will post a few pictures of that later! Tuesday is Presley's next chek-up so we will have an update about that too! Today our baby is 3 months old!! She is changing so much and becoming so fun! She has so many things going on right now, some of her new things are non-stop smiles that will bighten your day and "buzzing" her lips and blowing bubbles! I'm trying to get video of it, and when I do I will post it, but everytime I get the camera out she gets distracted! She is always wanting to "stand" and look around so we got out her jump-a-roo toy and she enjoyed it even though her feet don't touch the ground yet! I will get some pictures up soon of that too! She has really started grabbing at and holding onto things: her toys, blankets, pacifier, clothing, anything she can get her hands on! She has also been trying to roll over a little. Last weekend she rolled from her tummy to her back twice in a row, but hasn't since then. I think her big head and gravity were to blame! She has also turned into a spoiled rotten little drama queen! In the evening she is pretty demanding! If I'm playing with her and talking to her she is fine, but if I leave the room or pay attention to something else, she tells me how she feels about it, and she is not very subtle! She has slept through the night the last 4 nights! So, hopefully we have turned a corner and she will continue to do that! Either way, she only gets up once at night, so I can't complain! Before we know it she will be laughing and rolling all over! We can't wait! We can't take our eyes off of her, she is so beautiful and we are so blessed to have her in our lives! I have one of those mirrors in the back window of my car so I can see her in the back and I sometimes find myself looking in the mirror at her more than the road!! Whoops!! Anyways, enough bragging about our little angel....I have posted the Mongo pictures and a few others of her being a little ham this morning!
This last Saturday we traveled to Oskaloosa to cheer on Grandma Chele as she graduated with her BA after many years of hard work!! We are so proud of her! Then we went out to eat to celebrate and for Mother's Day! After that we traveled to Jefferson to celebrate Mother's Day with my family on Sunday. We went out to a brunch that the Elks Lodge held and spent the day together! Here are some pictures from the graduation!
Before I had Kaylin, I would occasionally babysit for a little boy from the center that I work at, and last week was the first time I watched him since I had Kaylin. His dad had a final for school so I took him home with me after work. We went and picked up Kaylin from daycare, and he was really sweet with her, he held her hand in the car and talked to her. When we got back to our house, I got some toys out for him to play with while Kaylin was laying on the floor on her boppy pillow. He was playing quietly so I thought it would be safe for me to wash a few dishes while he played in the living room. Apparently I have a little too much trust in him! While doing to dishes and chatting on the phone with my mom I hear J's mischievious little laugh that I have heard a million times before.....and then I hear his sweet little voice by the gate that blocks off our kitchen from the living room saying "Hehehe, I've got the baby!!" and I look over and he is holding Kaylin!! Keep in mind that this little guy is only 3 1/2 years old, and VERY busy!! My first instinct was to yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" But then remembered that he was holding my 2 1/2 month old baby 3 feet off the ground and was afraid if he thought he was in trouble he would drop her and run! So instead, I very excitedly said/squealed in my most positive teacher voice "Ahhh, yeah, you do have the baby!! Was she sad?" J-"Yeah, he fell, he was crying" (At this I kind of laughed, cuz she was already on the floor and not crying!) Me- "Oh wow! Were you giving her a hug?!" J- "Yeah!"Of course by now I have already taken her from him and my mom is on the other line wondering what the heck is going on! However, I couldn't be mad at him because he truly thought he was helping and he was very gentle with her (he was holding her around the chest like a hug and she wasn't even crying). He was so proud, and I kind of was too, considering he is usually pretty wild! A little later I was in the kitchen making his supper and she was crying in the living room in her bouncy chair and he yelled "He's crying again!" (He didn't get the concept of he/she and kept calling her 'he'). So I said to him "Try and make her feel better" then quickly yelled, "But don't pick her up!" and he yells back "Oh! Sorry!!" so I go see what he was doing and I could tell he tried to pick her up because she was half standing in her chair! I told him that if he wanted to hold her that he could sit in the chair and hold her, so he hopped up in the chair and I set her in his lap and he rocked the chair back and forth with a huge smile on his face! Silly boy! Anyways, that is the story of my first heart attack and my little helper! It was scary at the time, but now I can look back and laugh at it!
Here is a video I took of Kaylin talking tonight! It's kind of long, and there are some long periods of silence! She was being a little camera shy! Enjoy! |
