Now that Thanksgiving is done, it's time to get ready for Christmas!! Kaylin enjoyed exploring the Christmas decorations at Nana and Papa's and helped me and Cory decorate our tree!! We also saw Santa at Walmart and got her picture taken, I wasn't sure what to expect but she wasn't scared of him at all!!

Wednesday Kaylin had her 9 month check-up and she is doing great. She wieghed 19 lb 6 oz (61%) and was 28" long (67%). Her doctor had no concerns but the only "concern" we talked about what that Kaylin's left eye tends to cross inward, mostly when she is tired, I had been noticing it for awhile now, but it has improved a lot. Her doctor noticed it too, but said that we will just keep an eye on it and may have to have it checked after her 1st birthday to make she everything is okay. (Apparently if the skin between their eyes is wider than normal, it may look like their eyes cross and this may be the case with Kaylin but it is hard to tell at this point). Kaylin enjoyed her first Thanksgiving! We spent Thanksgiving day with Cory's family, and Friday with my family. We all ate way too much food, but it was delicious! Kaylin packed it away like it was her job and topped it off with pumpkin pie, (a new favorite)! If she sees you with a piece you had better be willing to share! She will crawl right up to you and give you those sad puppy-dog eyes with her mouth open waiting for bite (I have a feeling this begging technique was learned from watching the dogs!) A few new things she has started (I think she understand what she is doing, but might still be a fluke): waving to people, we will say "Hi" or "Bye" and wave at her and sometimes she waves back! It's really cute! I have also been using some basic sign language with her (more, please, thank you, all-done, etc.) and we have noticed that when we ask her if she is all done, she waves her arms back and forth. I want to try and get these on video so you can see how incredibly smart she is :) Haha! So this is the 2nd time I will type this....I had it all typed last night then my computer decided to freeze before I saved it! So here goes again.... 9 months ago I sat in a hospital bed staring in amazement at the beautiful baby I just gave birth to, today I stare at that same beautiful baby, but now it's from behind as I chase after her! Kaylin changes everday I swear! She is pulling up to standing on everything and will even just lean against things (getting brave)! She has perfected going from crawling to sitting and I swear she is just going to take off walking any day now (man, I hope not!) She has figured out that she can walk around by pushing a laundry basket around (how economical!) and loves to read books! She is getting pretty good at turning the pages of books by herself too! (I have videos of these 2 things that I will post). Yesterday I had a 4 year old tell me that the "Paci Fairy" came to her house and took her paci's. I decided that was it, Kaylin was going to be done with her's before she was old enough to tell her firends about a "Paci Fairy"! So last night she went to bed without it! It wasn't easy, but she was a trooper (and so was I)It took a little longer for her to fall asleep, a lot more heart-breaking crys, and me rocking her to sleep (ok, so I felt guilty!). But she went to sleep without it! And she went all day today without it and her late afternoon nap she didn't put up much of fuss, I just had to rub her back for a minute! I don't think we will be taking it home for Thanksgiving so we aren't tempted! She also had her last bottle with breast milk last night. From here on out she is completlly on formula. After 9 months we have only gone through 9 cans of fomula! Pretty good if you ask me! She goes tomorrow for her 9 month check up, so I will have to post her stats later. I curious to see what she weighs....this girl can pack away food like I have never seen! The other night she ate a ton of veggies, fruit and a whole peice of pizza! I think she would have eaten more but I cut her off! Her Mongo pictures have become increasingly difficult since she won't sit still! I barely got a good one! It's hard to believe that in 3 months she will be one year old! Better start planning a party :) We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! For Cory's birthday we went to the Science Center to the "Davinci the Genius" exhibit, it was really cool and Kaylin was really good while we were there. After we went through the exhibit we went to the infant/toddler area so Kaylin could play and checked out the rest of the Science Center. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, I thought had a lot more stuff to do, but it was still fun. Here are some pictures from our day, except we couldn't take pictures of the Davinci exhibit. The last 2 pictures showcase her new talent.....pulling up to stan Sorry it's been awhile since I have updated this, but now that Kaylin very mobile I can't just sit down at the computer while she is awake! If I'm not on her constantly she is in the dog dishes, dog toys, doing dangerous stunts or missing!! But she is so fun at the same time!! She is crawling all over in seconds and pulling herself to up to standing on everything (including Presley!) and jabbering non-stop! Here are some pictures and videos from the last few weeks, one video is of one of her new favorite things to do, wiggle her tongue around! I had taken several videos of the crawling process (army crawl, rocking on hands and knees) but by the time I got around to posting them she was already way past that stage!! She grew up over night! We also survived her first illness, she had a little bug that had her throwing up and diahrrea for a few days, which resulted in her refusing to eat her babyfood. She would only eat foods that she could pick up. She is doing great at feeding herself, and still eating some baby food (since I have a whole freezer full still!) Then to top off her growth spurt, she has her first tooth!! I noticed last weekend right before bed when she smiled at me that there was a little tooth that popped through! Our baby is turning into a little girl too fast! Now we can't wait for the holidays!! As of right now, I can't think of any more changes with her, but I'm sure by tomorrow morning there will be! |
