Last week was Kaylin's 1st field trip for school. We went to Joan's Farm and Pumpkin Patch. Lucas and I got to go too (she had to have at least one parent/guardian to take her and stay with her). They got to feed sheep and goats, learn about the farm, and pick out a pumpkin to decorate at school! She had a great time!

We did a fun little art project the other day that I had come across on Pinterest, I "carved" the potato to look like a jack-o-lantern and the kids had fun stamping them in paint on paper! It's hard to believe that our little man is already half way to being 2! He is growing and learning every day! He has such a goofy personality and loves to make you smile and laugh. He is making up for lost time when he was a baby and loves to cuddle now (an almost impossible task when he was littler!), he loves to rock and read books in his room before bed. He loves to dance to music, and loves to copy anything he sees (which is not always a good thing!). When Kaylin is practicing her dance for dance class, he tries to copy her, it's so cute! He is a very independent and determined little boy, he spent probably 10 minutes one night trying to put Cory's belt on and refused any help, and he always wants to try and put his socks on himself. That is his newest obsession, socks...or "gocks" as he calls them! He is constantly picking up new words and trying to repeat what we say. He has also started to go potty in the potty, not too consistent yet, but I will take what I can get! He is definitely growing too fast but we are enjoying every minute of it! At his 18 month check-up he was 24 lb 14 oz (60%), and was 2' 9.5" (85%) long. I tried to take a few 18 month pictures in the backyard and got a few cute ones, despite the lack of scenery and cooperation (some are kind of blurry from him moving so much). I also included some other random pictures of Lucas. And of course Kaylin was feeling left out so she wanted a little photo shoot as well ;-) Kaylin's photo shoot....she had to do everything exactly like Lucas ;-) Kaylin has been in Preschool for almost 2 months now, and she absolutely loves it! It is amazing to me to see how much she has grown and learned in the short time she has been going (which also makes me feel kind of like a bad mom that she wasn't picking up on this stuff at home, despite my efforts!) She is CONSTANTLY pointing out and naming letters and sounds, she already knew most of them but it's obvious to me that she is very much more aware of them now. They have a letter of the week each week and a color of the week. They already sent home a beginning of the year evaluation, which she is doing great in everything except listening and sharing ;-) Big surprise there! We are really happy with her school and can't wait to continue to see her grow. Next week we have her 1st field trip to a pumpkin patch, we can't wait!! (Pictures and post to follow!) Here are some pictures that her teachers posted on their Facebook page from August and September! Last week at dance was parent observation week, so we got to actually come into the classroom and watch and take pictures, instead of all of the moms crowding around 2 tiny windows in the doors to watch :-) Aunt Katie got to come too! Here are a bunch of pictures and videos from class! She absolutely loves dance and it makes my heart happy :-) Some of the pictures are a little blurry from action....plus, I need to learn how to use my camera better :-/ Here are the videos I took, they show the little routines that they do each week to practice, it's hard to see her in some of them so I apologize for the crazy camera job! I was doing my best to get her! There is also a video of their winter routine they will be performing in December- SO cute!! I gave Lucas his 1st real hair cut, with the help of Aunt Katie! He did really well sitting still, with the help of a popsicle and crackers! He only really needed a trim around the sides and back and little off the top, so it was pretty easy, and I thought I did a pretty good job, considering! Such a handsome boy! We had a surprise visitor a few weeks ago (Cory knew about it, but it was a surprise to the kids and I!) Aunt Katie had some time off so she decided to come out and visit us for a few days. We had a lot of fun with her and the kids really enjoyed spending time with her, even Lucas warmed up to her! Cory took her to San Francisco, we were all going to go until Kaylin threw up in the car not even 10 minutes from the house, so we turned around and we stayed home while they went, good thing too because she spent the day at home throwing up :-( Luckily it was short lived and she was better the next day. We took her to the Oakland zoo and just enjoyed playing together at home. We can't wait for our next visitors to come :-) |
