Kaylin taught herself to do a somersault the other day, and got pretty good at it! We plan on putting in a little gymnastics class here soon, and by the looks of it, she will be pretty good ;-)

Lucas turned 7 months old this week, I would have done this post sooner but he has been fighting a cold and not sleeping well, which means mommy isn't sleeping well! So pretty much any down time I have I fill it with sleep ;-) I keep thinking he is getting better but then he becomes a clingy monster who won't let me put him down in his crib (which is NOT like him at all!). I just hope it isn't turning into an ear infection or something.
Anyways, He close to popping his 2 top teeth any time now, and tends to like to bite (like on my shoulder when I'm holding him, or he will crawl up and bite your feet). I hope it doesn't turn into full-on biting in the future. He has an attitude that is bigger than him at times! He likes to grunt and growl when he isn't getting what he wants or is fighting sleep! He can crawl over and through just about any obstacle I make in attempts to contain him to the living room and out of the dog water! He still isn't crawl on his hands and knees, but is getting closer. It doesn't seem to slow him down one bit though! My next challenge is trying to figure out how I'm going to keep him out of the Christmas tree! He adores his big sister, who he thinks is a comedian! She can make him laugh doing just about anything, but his favorite is watching her jump on the bed and pretend to fall down. Sometimes he can hardly catch his breath, it's adorable! (I should try and get a video of that) He loves his puppy! He will crawl up to him and try to chew on him, and Presley will return a big ol' slobbery kiss across his face. He loves to pet Presley too. He is turning into a little man in front of our eyes, and with all of the extra cuddles he has been wanting lately I am reminded just how fast they do grow up. So, while I don't like my baby sick, I'd lie if I said I didn't enjoy the extra snuggles from him :-) Sometimes when taking pictures I have that deja vu moment where I think "This looks familiar".... Ok, so they aren't identical photos, but there is just something about the one of Lucas made me think of this one of Kaylin....maybe it's the heart-melting blue eyes, or the hats, or just the fact that they are adorable (yeah, I may be biased, but I'm allowed to be!)
The beauty of having family visit is free photography :-) We had Adam and Amanda help take our family photos at a park one morning and I thought they turned out pretty good! My sister and her husband braved the 30 hour drive out here to visit us for a week! The boys went off riding dirt bikes and camped for a few days, returning a little early relatively unscathed...kind of :-) But we got to spend a lot of time together and do some fun things! We went to the Del 'Osso farms to get pumpkins and Kaylin go to do the jumping pillows again (it was REALLY busy so I let her choose one activity). After we got home we carved the pumpkins! Kaylin chose Minnie Mouse and Lucas got a dirt bike (shocking, I know). Kaylin wasn't too sure at first, but got into it and Lucas was very curious! On Halloween, Amanda and I took the kids to a Halloween party and then trick-or-treating. Kaylin LOVED it, but wouldn't say "Trick-or-Treat" like we had been practicing. She did say "Thank you" though, and of course "MORE CANDY!!!!" after every house. Everyday when I ask her, "Kaylin, what do you want for breakfast/lunch?" Kaylin ALWAYS responds with a "Mmmm (thinking really hard), CANDY!" I'm not sure when she is going to figure out that that's not going to happen. We devoted one day to doing the "touristy" stuff. We went to San Jose to the Winchester Mystery Mansion (very interesting story and house, but kind of pricey tour). Then we drove to San Francisco and did the Golden Gate Bridge, World's Crookedest Street and Pier 39. It was a really great time and the kids were really good. We had a great time with them and we are so grateful that they took the time to drive out and see us. We can't wait until Christmas to go home! (Ok, I can't say that I'm really excited about the 28 hour drive with 2 children and a dog through the mountains in the dead of winter, but the end result will be GREAT- Kind of like labor....but my labor's don't even last that long...ok, now we are a little off track haha!)
