Cooper shares his birthday with his very special Great Great Grandpa Hap! He turned 100 this year and we got to help him celebrate! I had matching shirts made for Cooper and Grandpa :-)

This past year flew by and our baby boy is already 1 year old. It's so bitter sweet....we are so excited for what lies ahead, yet sad that our last baby is no longer a baby. We had a great time celebrating with a Train themed party at the Train Depot back home. We are so thankful for all the family and friends that came from near and far to celebrate with us! He received a lot of money this year, which will go towards a swing-set that we are getting the kids as their birthday presents this year! He wasn't too sure about his cake, he took a couple of nibbles but wasn't too interested. We tried it again that night, but he still wasn't too in to it. Cooper had his 1 year check-up on Monday the 18th. He checked out perfect, except his lab work came back that he was a little anemic, so we have to give him some iron supplements. He weighed in at 23 lb 6 oz (80%), 31 1/2 inches (96%), and his head was in the 93%. He got 5 shots and had to have blood drawn from his arm :-( He cried a little with the shots, but surprisingly he didn't even flinch or fuss a bit when they drew his blood. He just looked at the ladies and studied them. Other than the iron, the Dr. was very happy with his growth! Here is what Cooper is up to- *Taking a few steps in between people, but gets too excited and just dives, hoping you will catch him! *Jabbering a lot *Likes to make a fish face *Saying "Hi" to everyone we pass at the store *Has 9 teeth (Working on cutting the rest of his one-year molars) *Sleeping through the night again (knock on wood) *Done with all bottles (his last one was 5 days before his brithday!) *Transitioning to cow's milk....we only have 2 bags of breast milk left) *Picky eater sometimes.....LOVES fruit, most veggies, but not always a fan of foods that are mixed or look weird (casseroles) *Not the best car traveler (Which will be awesome when we drive to CO next weekend ;-) ) *Likes to imitate sounds (grunting, growling, burping, "yeah") I can't think of anything else new right now :-) He is so much fun and we love every minute we have with him! Looking back at the other 2 kids' stats at 1 year: Kaylin was 20 lb 8 oz (42%) and 30" (80%) Lucas was 23 lb 2 oz (75%) and 32" (100% - off the charts) Well, it's been a crazy month since Christmas (hence the reason I'm just getting around to doing the Christmas blogs now). After Christmas we dove right into planning Cooper's 1st birthday! Anyways....Christmas....We spent Christmas Eve together as a family at home, we let the kids open their gifts from us early so they had lots of time to play with everything before we took off for the weekend. We tried to tone it down this year because they kids already have TOO MUCH STUFF!! Kaylin has been begging for an American Girl Doll for MONTHS, and I got actually got a good deal on one of the "generic girls" (not the character dolls). She was so excited and I loved to see her joy! I loved dolls as a girl and am excited to buy all the adorable accessories for her! (I'm not below the "cheap" brand accessories from Target/Walmart!) She got lots of clothes and accessories too. She named her "Pricilla", although we have no idea where she came up with that from....and she kept asking us what he name was, because she kept forgetting haha! Lucas got his Paw Patroller RV he has been drooling over for months too! Cooper mainly just played with the paper, but got some new toys too. And can't forget their Christmas Pj's and books! Christmas morning- The kids actually slept in and we had fun opening and playing with all the toys from Santa. Kaylin got a spa chair for her doll, Lucas got a basketball hoop, and Cooper got giant semi and cars (plus other things)! After they played for awhile we packed up and headed to Jefferson for 3 more days full of Christmas! We went to Grammy Hammy's that evening and enjoy spending time with everyone! (Although I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures) Saturday morning we headed to Carroll for the day for Christmas with Cory's family. First we made a pit stop at Urgent Care in Carroll because we were suspicious of Cooper having an ear infection because the only way he would sleep the night before was in my arms, which is NOT like him. Sure enough, he had an ear infection in his right ear :-( We had a great day playing with the cousins and the kids were spoiled! Our last Christmas was on Sunday at my parents...again...spoiled kids! We loved spending time with everyone! We were going to stay until Monday but there was a big storm coming so we had to head home early on Sunday. |
