Lucas was trying really hard last night to roll over, and he was getting very close! I'm not sure I'm ready for him to grow up so fast!! :-( I got a little video of his efforts!

They have been renovating the park just down the street from us for several months now, and we have been anxiously awaiting for it to open. It has finally opened so we went down last weekend to check it out, and as I expected, I was thoroughly disappointed! It is way to advanced for Kaylin, the only thing she can really "do" safely is swing. But she still had fun, however I don't think we will be going there often until she is older. I knew the time would eventually come when Lucas went from "Little Brother" to "Kaylin's personal, living doll"....he was such a trooper, however I have a feeling that when he becomes older and mobile, this will not be the case :-) Well, Lucas is already 3 months old and I can't believe it! Not much has changed, he is still a happy little man and is on a pretty consistent schedule. However, he still isn't sleeping through the night (I know, I know, he's only 3 months...), but he usually only wakes up once. These past few days he hasn't been wanting his pacifier, which is great....as long as he doesn't replace it with his thumb! He still likes it to help him go to sleep when he is REALLY tired and fighting it, but otherwise he just gags on it or pushes it out with his tongue. He is going to be going on his first plane ride in just over a week when we go home to visit IA! We can't wait! I think he will do well, since he is always happy, especially when he is being held!
Here is his Mongo picture from this month, plus a few others! I also added a comparative of Kaylin at 3 months! It's been crazy hot here this week so we have been getting some good use of out pool! Lucas usually doesn't like it when I dip his feet but he was seeming to enjoy it so I decided we would go for a little dip! He really enjoyed it and now I can't wait to take him swimming while we are back in IA visiting in a few weeks!!
Our next door neighbor has 2 little kids right around Kaylin's age, Kayla and Dorian, that she loves to play with and chat with through our fence and they recently got a boxer puppy, Sadie, which is now Presley's best friend. Anyways, the other night the kids and dogs were running back and forth between the houses and they taught Kaylin how to play ring-around-the-rosie. This year for the 4th of July we went to the parade in Tracy in the morning. It was not the world's best parade, but Kaylin enjoyed it so that is all that mattered! After the parade we headed over to our friends house for a potluck BBQ! Several of our friends (from our playgroup) and their families were there and we all pitched in to rent a bounce house for the kids (ok, so the adults enjoyed it too). It was a lot of fun! We went home for late naps and went back over since our friends' neighbors put off fireworks in their street. So the kids bounced some more and when it got dark we watched some fireworks. Kaylin was not liking them at first but then warmed up when she realized they wouldn't hurt her from where we were standing. She really enjoyed the big fireworks that were high up in the sky that were going off all over town. (Fireworks are legal in CA, well at least most of them....pretty sure the big ones you would see at a stadium aren't legal but they were going off everywhere!) When we got home there were a ton of the really big, cool ones going off right over our house. They had to be putting them off like a block away. It was really cool, yet a little scary that they were that close! Who knows when everyone stopped doing fireworks, they were still going strong when I went to bed after 11 PM! It was a really fun day and the kids were wiped out the next day! Not much new going on around here other than Kaylin is finally working on her 2 year molars and turning into a little girl, rather than a toddler. I can't believe how much her speech has changed just in these past few weeks, she is starting to actually say words correctly instead of her cute toddler versions of words. Very rarely do I not understand what she is trying to say to me. Most children go through a "Why?" stage, but Kaylin is opting for the "What?" stage....can't say I'm a real fan of it! Here is a typical conversation that we have multiple times a day: Me: Kaylin, eat your lunch. K: What? Me:I said please eat your lunch. K: What? Me: Just eat, Kaylin K: What? Me: Nevermind. K: What? Me:Nothing K: What? Me: (Silence) *End of conversation* We do this all day long about anything and everything....I think she may be losing her hearing! She is officially potty trained (and has been for awhile now) with the exception of an accident here and there. She even can go most nights without wetting her diaper, and sometimes will come in and go in the middle of the night so that is pretty awesome if you ask me!! We are looking at putting her into some classes in the fall through the city to get her some more social interactions. I really want to put her in a dance class since all she wants to do is dance! They have 6 weeks intro classes that don't have the recital and everything, which I think will be perfect for her age. I also think we may try gymnastics too! I can't wait! As for Lucas, I had mentioned in his 2 month post that we thought something was wrong with his arm/side because he would scream in pain when we picked him up sometimes when he was crying. Well, after we changed how we picked him up to under his but/back, he was still doing it. So today I took him to a Chiropractor that specializes in pediatrics and had him checked out. He looked him over and checked all of his ribs and collar bone to see if there was a possible breaks. Thankfully he couldn't find anything and said his spine felt fine. He did the compression gun on his back to see if it helps and we will go back again next week to check in and see if he needs to do it again. He thought his back may just be bothering him a little from being all scrunched up before he was born. So hopefully he will be fixed now (or at least after next week). He is the happiest little baby and starting to giggle a little! He tells some pretty big stories and can melt your heart with his gummy smile! And it's official, his eyes are going to be killer blue like his sister's (regardless of his wishes of his daddy's to have brown eyes!) Well, I suppose that's all for now... Here are just some random pictures from these past few weeks... more posts to follow! |
